Following the collapse of the Somali central government and the onset of civil war, women and children emerged as the most vulnerable segments of society. They endured profound physical and mental health challenges, along with social hardships such as humiliation and harassment. Access to basic necessities like education, healthcare, and human rights was significantly compromised.
The Somali Family Health Services Organization (SFHSO) was founded in 2015 to address these urgent issues. As a non-governmental and non-profit organization, SFHSO is committed to empowering women and children by promoting access to education, healthcare, and fundamental human rights. Through its initiatives, the organization seeks to uplift marginalized communities and foster societal development. Driven by a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including medical practitioners, educators, and community leaders, SFHSO operates under the strategic guidance of a member Board of Directors. The board meets annually to review progress, elect leadership, and set the agenda for the upcoming year
To create a peaceful and equitable society where women and children receive priority in health and education, ensuring sustainable and affordable access to quality services through an efficient support system
To improve the quality of life for women and children by providing access to affordable, sustainable reproductive and child health services while fostering national development through health, education, and human rights initiatives
